Looking to trade small cabin on large acreage of woods in Maine for interesting acreage
I bought those beautiful woods an hour east of Bangor Maine in 2002 as a weekend getaway. When I moved west, I decided to sell it on installments, but my buyer ended up changing his plans and signed it back to me. Which I took to be a sign to keep it, so I build a solid little fieldstone cabin, enabling me to continue vacationing here. I planned to move back, build an earthship, and live off the land… but then I fell in love. Here, with its memories of a previous partner, is not where we want to build our future. So we decided to give fate a chance:

I’m offering to trade my 42 partially cleared wooded acres with a small fieldstone cabin at the end of a cul-de-sac near Cherryfield Maine. It’s very quiet and peaceful, perfect to get away from it all, an hour drive to the nearest city.
The land was logged about 40 years ago and trees are growing back in, it’s perfect for wildlife. We have moose and deer and occasional black bears, coyotes and bobcats. The camp is off the grid, without water or electricity; houses further up the road have power and phone. The next lot has an 8-foot deep well: it is easy to dig one, should you want well water. Three brooks are running across the land. There are several building sites with nice views. The stone cabin is a small 11-foot diameter room with a wood stove. Rustic and cozy. A dirt road leads to the camp, located halfway down the lot, and turns into an unimproved logging trail towards the rear of the wooded property.

Yearly tax is $212.
The typical value for land in the area is $900-1,600 per acre.

What we are looking for is something of roughly equal value: from bare land suitable for homesteading to an odd property in a city. We’ll consider any location worldwide. I love the woods, my man dreams of rehabbing a church or an industrial space. We’re not sure what our adventure together may look like, so we decided to see if universe has an answer that we may not have thought of yet.
