We use essential cookies to keep you signed in, and — with your consent — analytics and partner promotion cookies. Cookie Policy
Cookie Policy

What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, to work more efficiently, and to provide information to the owners of the site. GoSwap.org also uses browser localStorage and sessionStorage (collectively "similar technologies") for some of the same purposes.
Our native iOS and Android apps do not use browser cookies. They use secure on-device storage for sign-in and preferences instead, and this Cookie Policy does not apply to that storage.
Categories of Cookies We Use
We group the technologies we use into three categories: Essential, Analytics, and Promotions.
Essential (Strictly Necessary)
These cookies are required for the site to function. They cannot be turned off. No consent is needed to set them, but we disclose them here in the interest of transparency.
| Name / Key | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| goswap_session | HTTP-only session cookie that authenticates signed-in users and keeps them logged in across page loads. | Session / 30 days |
| goswap_cookie_consent | Stores your cookie preference choices (analytics on/off, promotions on/off) so we don't ask again on every visit. Stored in localStorage. | 1 year |
| goswap_ai_charge_consent | Records that you have acknowledged the credit charge for the AI Trade Advisor feature. Stored in localStorage. | Persistent |
| navigationHistory | Remembers the last page you visited so the app can redirect you back after login. Stored in localStorage. | Session |
| promoRef / acquisitionSource | Stores the referral tag or acquisition UTM parameters from your first visit so partner credit can be attributed correctly. Stored in localStorage. | 30 days |
Analytics (Performance)
These cookies collect anonymised information about how visitors use the site — pages visited, time on site, errors encountered — so we can improve the platform. Under GDPR we require your explicit opt-in before loading these. Under CCPA you can opt out at any time.
Third-party providers in this category:
- Google Analytics 4 — operated by Google LLC. Privacy Policy · Opt-out Add-on
- Microsoft Clarity — operated by Microsoft Corporation. Records anonymised session replays and heatmaps to help us understand how visitors use the site. Privacy Statement
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Distinguishes unique users by assigning a randomly-generated number as a client identifier. | 2 years |
| _ga_90V3E0VEN6 | Persists session state for this specific GA4 property (measurement ID G-90V3E0VEN6). | 2 years |
| _gid | Distinguishes users; refreshed every 24 hours. | 24 hours |
| _clck | Microsoft Clarity — Persists the Clarity User ID and preferences, unique to that site, on the browser. | 1 year |
| _clsk | Microsoft Clarity — Connects multiple page views by a user into a single Clarity session recording. | 1 day |
Promotions (Affiliate / Functional)
These cookies support our partner and affiliate program — recording when a user arrives from a partner link and attributing conversions so our partners can be credited appropriately. Under GDPR we require your explicit opt-in. Under CCPA you may opt out at any time.
Third-party providers in this category:
- Microsoft Advertising (Bing UET) — operated by Microsoft Corporation. Privacy Statement
- Meta Pixel — operated by Meta Platforms, Inc. Privacy Policy (coming soon)
- Google Ads — operated by Google LLC. Privacy Policy (coming soon)
| Name | Provider / Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| MUID | Microsoft — Universal ID used across Microsoft advertising partner sites for conversion attribution. | 13 months |
| _uet* | Microsoft — Bing UET (Universal Event Tracking). Records visits from Bing ads and tracks goal completions. | 13 months |
| _fbp | Meta — Facebook Pixel browser identifier. Used to attribute conversions from Meta ad campaigns. (coming soon) | 3 months |
| _fbc | Meta — Stores the click ID from a Meta ad click for attribution. (coming soon) | 3 months |
| _gcl_aw | Google — Google Ads click conversion linker. Stores the Google Click ID (gclid) for attributing ad conversions. (coming soon) | 90 days |
Security Widgets
Some forms — including Contact, agent/broker inquiries, and the affiliate application — use Google reCAPTCHA to prevent spam and automated abuse. When the reCAPTCHA widget loads, Google may set its own cookies and process your IP address under Google's Privacy Policy. reCAPTCHA is not shown in our native iOS and Android apps.
How to Manage Your Preferences
You can change your cookie preferences at any time using any of these methods:
- Click Cookie Preferences in the footer of any page — this re-opens the consent banner.
- Go to My Account → Settings → Privacy (requires sign-in) to toggle analytics and promotions cookies independently.
- Use your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent sign-in from working correctly.
- Use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to block GA tracking across all sites.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
