Delete Your Account

Delete in the app

1. Open the GoSwap app and sign in.
2. Tap My Account.
3. Open Settings, then the Profile tab.
4. Scroll down and tap Delete Account.
5. Type DELETE to confirm, then tap Delete my account.

Your account is deleted right away. This cannot be undone.

Delete on the website

Sign in at goswap.org, then go to My Account, Settings, Profile, and choose Delete Account. The steps are the same as in the app.

Ask us to delete it for you

If you no longer have the app or cannot sign in, email support@goswap.org from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We may reply to confirm the request came from you. We delete the account within 30 days, usually much sooner.

What we delete

• Your account, profile, photo, sign-in details, and any Google or Apple sign-in links.
• Your listings, listing drafts, and their photos and videos.
• Your swap proposals and messages, including the other person's copy of those conversations.
• Your saved listings, email alerts, newsletter sign-up, and notification settings.
• Reviews you wrote and reviews written about you.
• Blocks and reports you made, and reports made about you.
• Your partner page, affiliate links, and referral records.

If you have a paid plan, it is canceled when you delete your account. Plans bought through the App Store or Google Play must also be canceled in your Apple or Google account settings.

What we keep, and for how long

• Payment and credit records

  We keep the record of each purchase and credit charge so our books and tax records stay correct. Your name and account are removed from these records. We keep them for as long as tax and accounting law requires.

• Published blog posts

  If you wrote a blog post that we published, the post stays on the site with no author shown.

• Published swap stories

  If you and another member agreed to publish the story of your swap, it stays on the site so the other member keeps it. It no longer links to your account. To have your part removed, email us and we will remove it within 30 days.

• Search history

  Words typed into the search box are kept to help us improve search, with no link to you or your account.

• Ban records

  If your account was banned, we keep the email address, device, and network details tied to that ban so the ban still works. They are kept for as long as the ban stands.

• Backups

  Our automatic database backups are kept for 7 days, so your data is gone from them 7 days after deletion. Photos and videos come off the site right away and are erased from storage 30 days later.
